Central Coast Sunset Show
Photos by Jon Pinter
The central coast of California is flown over and zoomed past. Which is fine by me.
Less traffic less congestion and more room to just sit and grok the beauty of what originally belonged to the Chumash who lived along the central coast for 11,000 years.
Their world view is centered on the belief "that considers all things to be, in varying measure, alive, intelligent, dangerous, and sacred. Archaeologists have explored the possibility of a Chumash/Polynesian connection suggesting that these two distinct groups could have interacted in the past. The Chumash were skilled at constructing sewn-plank canoes called tomols. These canoes were an essential part of their lives, used for transportation and fishing. These canoes they called the house of the sea. There are similarities between the boats of the Polynesians and the Chumash.
The beauty of the central coast is missed by many. Those who stop, breathe and grok will catch on to this paradise.
