Nola Man Nola
I have been following so many great music writers here on Substack, and for a music obsessive like it has been a wonderful treat. Old music heard and described in new ways. New music discoveries that come so fast it has been at times overwhelming. Variable tastes in tunes have led me to music I was completely unaware of. For this I am eternally grateful.
However, consistently, continually there has been a huge hole in the voyage of the musical ship, and that my friends has been the music of New Orleans. Jazz, Zydeco, Cajun, Rock, Country the list seems at times to be endless.
The first time I went to Nola was in 1979, we drove all night from Houston and ended up stumbling around when we arrived at 2am. A cook at a bar that was starting to close, was kind enough to serve us one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I have been back several times, and the music is just incredible.
I wonder what has led to this hole in music here among all these great music writers here on Substack. I now lay down a challenge to all who see this, who love music.
Play Some Nola, Man, Nola!

Nice, Freight Train, DiFranco.
I’m definitely down for a listen
